Finding Peace & Purpose on the Water
Our Story
At Veterans Water Wellness, our mission is rooted in the belief that healing begins when veterans reconnect with nature, community, and their own inner strength. Founded by Scott Girard—a veteran whose life has been defined by the sea—VWW is dedicated to providing therapeutic boating experiences that help veterans navigate the challenges of reintegration and mental health.
Our journey started with a simple yet powerful idea: to create a safe haven on the water where veterans can leave behind the noise and chaos of everyday life. Whether it’s the hypnotic sound of waves or the silent majesty of an open horizon, our boating experiences offer a unique environment for reflection, connection, and healing.
Scott’s personal adventures—from sailing long distances against all odds to competing in classic regattas—have shown him the remarkable benefits of life at sea. At VWW, every excursion is designed not only to provide a peaceful escape but also to build a supportive community. Through initiatives like the Spartan Sword Pledge, veterans pledge to support each other, forging bonds that extend far beyond the boat.
Veterans Water Wellness is more than a program—it’s a movement. We’re here to empower those who have served by offering meaningful, nature-based experiences that rejuvenate the body, mind, and spirit. Join us on the water and discover a journey of healing, adventure, and renewed purpose.
About Our Founder
Scott Girard is a Marine Corps veteran and the passionate founder of Veterans Water Wellness (VWW). Growing up in the Puget Sound region of Washington, Scott’s early years were spent working with his father and brother selling sailboats, where he developed a lifelong love for the sea. After joining the Marine Corps right out of high school, his dedication to service and adventure naturally led him back to the water
Scott’s sailing journey is as daring as it is inspiring. One memorable adventure took him from Seattle to Antigua via the Panama Canal—a three‐month odyssey through unpredictable weather that epitomized the true spirit of exploration. With a deep respect for the lessons learned from his father and countless experiences navigating both calm and stormy seas, Scott has since made it his mission to offer fellow veterans the same sense of peace and purpose he found in open waters.

Drawing on years of experience in the marine yachting industry—ranging from engineering aboard yachts to participating in classic regattas across the Mediterranean—Scott believes that the art of sailing is more than just a recreational pursuit. It’s a transformative journey that builds camaraderie, hones leadership skills, and provides a sanctuary from the pressures of everyday life. For Scott, every moment on the water is an opportunity to decompress, reflect on life’s true priorities, and rediscover what it means to be free.
